The vision of the church is the “make disciples of all the nations”.
"Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, "teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age." Matthew 28:19-20
The way the local church does this is seen in Acts 2.
1. Teach the baptism of the Holy Spirit (Acts 2:1-4).
“But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.” Acts 1:8
“And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.” Acts 2:4
2. Evangelize the lost world around us (Acts 2:14-40).
“But Peter, standing up with the eleven, raised his voice and said to them,” Acts 2:14
“And with many other words he testified and exhorted them, saying, “Be saved from this perverse generation.” Acts 2:40
3. Baptize believers (Acts 2:41).
“Then those who gladly received his word were baptized, and that day about three thousand souls were added to them.”Acts 2:41
4. Teach the Word of God (Acts 2:42).
“And they continued steadfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in prayers.” Acts 2:42
5. Fellowship together (Acts 2:42).
6. Share Communion together (Acts 2:42).
7. Pray to God individually and corporately (Acts 2:42).
As we obey the Lord in doing the things He’s called us to do, He adds to the church as He wishes.
“And the Lord added to the church daily those who were being saved.” Acts 2:47.
